Moving on seems to be a recurrent theme in my life as of late. I’ve moved twice within the past seven months, and already, after four years I’m thinking about exploring new venues in the field of education. Although I’m more open to it now,  I was terrified of change, and would make up all kinds of excuses as to why it made sense to remain within the confines of my comfort zone.  However, my evolvement as an individual crystalizes the reality that I’m destined toward a higher calling that is only hampered by my insecurities.  My comfort is becoming uncomfortable.  It’s making me restless, and all the tweaking and rearranging does nothing to ease this constant gnawing deep within that is propelling in another direction. Now what?

I get off to a great start this morning, until the second I shut my front door. I don’t have my glasses. Shoot. I fumble through my oversized bag frantically searching for the keys I’d just dropped in there some ten seconds ago. Why did I do that knowing I’d have to retrieve them in another five seconds to get in my car? I need coffee. Apologetically, I pull up to Terri’s home, and off we go, jabbering and sharing anxiety about the TIW.

We pull into the SUNY New Paltz parking lot only to realize it’s the wrong one, and we’re sent on a brief course of lefts and rights before arriving at the intended destination.Terri is cool, but I stumble into the classroom as a completely disheveled mess. This, compounded with the fact that Scott didn’t deliver on his promise of the Ernest Hemingway ice sculpture, nearly ruins my morning. Thankfully, the aroma of the coffee works on my senses and my equilibrium is restored. As if on cue, Mary, cheerful and pleasant , graciously walks over and whispers the assignment in my ear. I ready myself to get down to business, but first, I fix myself a cup of java. Taking a cautious sip of the hot drink, I click my pen and begin scratching out words in my journal. Alas…all is well with the world.

     I’m signed up and ready to go.  While I like the idea of the blogging, I’m also concerned that I may be presumptious in assuming that anyone is interested in what I have to say. 

   This forum will hopefully allow me to meet (virtually) with a variety of educuators to assist me with ideas and methodologies to improve my ELA teaching practices.   

Imagine this … I have my own blog. Technology has finally caught up with me, after nipping at my heels for the past ten or more years.  I certainly wasn’t chasing after it.
